Prayers for New Orleans... again...

That, and learning not to build heavily in often threatened areas.

Well, it’s hitting. Fortunately, a few brave souls stayed behind to secure the city. This from a story on Cnn today…

That would be bad. Very bad. A lot of the rainfall upon which the southern states depend is based on hurricanes. Not just the immediate rainfall from the storm itself but later rainfalls as well. If you look at the summers following heavy hurricane weather you’ll see there is more rainfall than rainfalls following a weak hurricane season. Just as our ecology is dependant on such hideous things as spiders it’s also dependant on things like hurricanes.

Oops. Sorry Redwolf I hadn’t read your post before reacting to Jack’s.

What I would like to do, were it possible, is to create some sort of mechanical device which could go into incoming hurricanes and make them less deadly or stop them. I know it’s really complicated and even more complicated than that, but it’s just something that it seems in 2008 we’d have done. We invented the Internet and let a man get pregnant, after all.

But the man who got pregnant wasn’t originally a man anyway and still had all the internal plumbing.

A tad insulting, don´t you think, for all those who don´t believe in the supernatural?

naw, just try to translate it into something you can live with…

Only if you limit your interpretation of ‘prayer’ to be involving the supernatural. Natural works for me.

Me too. Directed thought has power to effect change.

I don’t see asking anybody to pray an insult. Either you think or feel it could work or not.

I have been putting a bit of thought of just how I should direct the what ever working of energy it is that I do.
What am I being asked to pray for? The hurricane energy has to go some where, but where?

As I said before, but in the mean time I’ve been trying my hand at knot magic (on cords). But it only seems to work if the attacking energy is already present. Once gathered I then take the cords and bury them. I haven’t a clue how I could get an affect from a distance with it.

Probably just a matter of not letting my mind limit my imagination, huh.

In the mean time, New Orleans has been getting all the media focus, but lots of nasty bad stuff has been happening from these hurricanes in the near and far surrounding gulf area on upwards.

Two tribes of Native Americans (The Houma and Chitimacha) lost quite a bit of the land their homes are built on.
Other folks who were far in land not only had wind damage, they had flood damage as well from all the rain in their area and from up stream.

The wet lands on the coast were loosing ground at a rate of a football field worth every 38 minutes before Gustav hit. Those wets lands were a once a protection.

I usually word these things with something akin to ‘healing thoughts, good vibes, and prayers’, so I can insult even more folk. :stuck_out_tongue: I was in a hurry on this one though.

And yes, focused thought/energy works wonders, whether you tie it into one of the myriad of names (and interpretations) of G_D or no. I guess I’ve just quit feeling the need to separate them verbally, as I see them as all the same. If you are focused on, and focusing, the power for good, you would naturally be tapping the same forces/sources.

I’m sure that there was many more of us, besides myself, that noticed the omission of the usual encompassment.

Oh, yes. Hanging on my every word, as usual, of course.
