Plastic Ney (Turkish/Arabic)

I have recently begun playing Turkish Ney but mine has developed a crack in the baspare (inner). I’m thinking of getting a plastic one to avoid this in the future - maybe a Kawala and Arabic Ney too.

I’m looking at www.arabinstruments.com of course but there are much cheaper offerings elsewhere (and cheaper shipping too).

Anyone have any experience with these or advice on other sources?

If you can get very thin cyano acrylate glue aka super glue you can repair this

I checked some plastic Turkish neys in a store in Berlin

Their baspares were not good because they don’t have the inner bulge.

This bulge is important for the intonation in the very high notes

I had used a baspare from a ney on my hybrid kavals because of that

I got access to good baspares and will make the plastic neys and hybrid kavals myself again.

Thanks. I thought I would try to repair the baspare, for sure. Hybrid kaval … mmm … sounds interesting (like Nadishana?). Will you sell them?

I developed the hybrid kaval idea about 15years ago and introduced it to Nadishana.

I made the first instruments for him

I will sell plastic kavals if someone is interested

I’d be interested in plastic kavals and hybrid. Let me know!
