"Planxties & Airs" online now

Hi there,

actually I’m rather proud to announce, that not only „Morris Open“ ( www.morris-open.de ) and “Trutz Nachtigall” ( www.trutz-nachtigall.de ) but now “Planxties & Airs” too have a website online: www.planxties-airs.de . Sorry, this one is in German only for now, but if you’re interested in the combination of whistle and church organ playing together, the soundfiles found on “Hörproben” might be interesting anyway. Enjoy listening!

Cheers
Claus

WOW!!!

Incredibly BEAUTIFUL!!!

Thank you so much.

Mike

some stuff!

maith thú!

I like the Hedgehog’s Lament very much, probably the best. Keep up the good werk!

Ok. The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Talking Heads, The Band, Morris Open–all the really great bands. And now we have another.

Claus sent me a CD of live recording of Planxties & Airs some time ago and it really is beautiful stuff. I’d fly to Germany to hear 'em live.

Dale

P.S. And, boy, would my arms be tired!

Beautiful.
Very elegant and stylish playing with great emotional depth.

The site being in German is no problem and the track names are all in English.

Highly recomended…go there now

Slan,
D.

Very nice!

It sounds like it is being played in one of those old, huge, stone churches that that part of the world is famous for.

Just another example of the versitility of the whistle.

Way to go IDAwHOa.

It does sound as if was recorded in situ, so to speak.
The third track from the site is getting repeated plays here today. For some strange reason the liturgical feel to it reminded me an awful lot of the Gaeltacht Medley from Alan Stivells "Renaissance of the Celtic Harp"which I happened to be listening to this very morning before venturing on to the Chiff Board.
Two very different pieces of music but there is something common to both in the feeling of otherworldness.

Stivells album is on Napster,if you would like a listen.

Slan,
D.

Okay…this sucks. I can’t stop listening to these recordings!

Claus, is there a CD available or in the works?

I WANT MORE!!!

Please?

Mike

Claus,

Very nice, very nice indeed!

Denny

Oooooooohh!

Berevity is the soul of wit. - Oscar Wilde.

BUMP squeezed in on the way

Slan,
D.

Thanks everybody for the friendly and encouraging comments!

And Dale, what a joy to see this cool :sunglasses: sweatshirt on you again. I think, I’ll have to make this my new sceensaver.

Cheers
Claus

Well Claus, you’ve thoroughly disrupted our Sunday morning routine - the family breakfast, cats included, had to wait…just beautiful!

Philo

What a pleasant blending of musical instruments. Who would have thought the whistle could sound so nicely with organ? You have brought our instument to a new height surely.

I never thought twice about that. If you hold your whistle vertical with the mouthpice down, what you have is an organ pipe that is tunable!!!

Me too!

A pipe organ is just an extreme whistle collection…a few keyboards, many, many stops, bellows…

Ah…that Hedgehog’s Lament…wonderful…makes me want a good low whistle even more now.

About pipe organs and whistles. It’s cool to think that Michael Copeland got a lot of inspiration from all his studies on the acoustics of pipe organs and such. Its all in The Chiff and Fipple Interview
