Pipers on Sound Cloud

Sure, I never knew “D-a-r-c-y” was pronounced “sky” before.

A little nervous to show them( :frowning: ), but here are the Recordings I made… But I feel the criticism is necessary…
(BTW they were all recorded in a closet)

As far as I know my rhythm need some tinkering.

I have also found This and another playlist. I think the latter is one of our own, judging by the picture.

Sounds really great! I have this vague feeling you haven’t been playing more than a year, is that right? Brilliant progress for such a short time. Curse your young fingers! Wish I sounded as good. Its been two years and I don’t think I have half the technique down you already display.

Keep it up.

Phew! Thanks for the kind words! While I was recording I got the willies and overall the same feeling as if i was in front of an audience!

I just hope I never fall under the Dunning-Kruger effect.

I have been at it for about 8 months now. I am trying to expand my repertoire as of now.

thank you all, and nice piping those who have recorded. The UilleannSean ‘pipes’ playlist grows…

Hello,
This is mine: https://soundcloud.com/grawel
Not only uilleann pipes but french pipes tunes too.
Cheers

@ennischanter - I think you’ve made great progress for 8 months, but your focus should still be on the rudiments. The technical bits are tripping the tunes up. It might suit you better to learn the tunes first without ornamentation. ‘Sean Bui’ seems a little mixed up.

I’m curious what your main learning method is. Are you learning tunes mainly from listening, sheet music, or a mixture of both?
And have you played any instruments previously? highland pipes?

Does anyone know where Ennis got that intro bit to the Fox Chase? I’ve only heard him play it on that one LP and Liam O’F’s album.
i think its something like:
l BAG B d l BAG B d l AFD DDD l AFD DDD l

(i’ve never paid much attention to ABCs or had to write them out)

I learn mostly from listening, but yes I think rudiments need fixing, Ill maybe pay a visit to Thesession.org

I played classical violin for about 5 years, and then I felt I disliked it, so I quit and never looked back. I have played the highland pipes, I still do, but look to move forward with the Uilleann pipes.

Okay.. I feel slightly less inclined to slit my wrists now! After learning for a year myself, I was gonna pack it in when I heard you! Sounding great for 8 months in!

Ha! I hear you, but don’t give up.
Wish I had access to some of that free time I had as an 18 year old, now though, sure would be useful for practicing.

Guess who I found?

Whoops! It was already posted! But it still sounds nice!

Who Made his C set?

I started a profile there as well (nothing professional, just for fun and talking to people)… https://soundcloud.com/jakub-tomek-2.

And D Bentleys uilleann playlist http://soundcloud.com/daniel-f-bentley/sets/uilleann-tunes
Gr8 piping!

From the description of Ronans C:

“The old brass Denis Harrington pipes playing in C. Drones reeded but not regs yet.
Chanter is my C from Peter Hunter (early 80s) – full of attitude and spark!
New hollow stock from Bill Haneman with extremely thin walls allowing the bees to escape beautifully.
YAY…!!!”

Awesome!

Funny how a experienced piper like Ronan would fall for that old chestnut.
