Picks: Anyone want to do some trading?

I’ve got a few picks I don’t use, and a few spares to some that I do. Anyone want to do some horse trading? I’m looking for Ultex and Wegens picks, and who knows what else. I’ve got Dunlop Tortex, Proplec, Fender Extra Heavy Teardrop shape, Dunlop red Jazz, and perhaps a few others I’d be willing to trade, 1 for 1 I’m thinking. Any takers?

Loren

Let me see if I understand this. I will pick some of your picks, and you will pick some of my picks, right? I’m game. I cut my picks out of expired credit cards. I can make them any shape you like (fish head, boring triangles, hexagons, you name it).

Umm, okay, but then you get to choose picks only from those I’ve hand made, and I make my picks out of Depleted Uranium - no A-10 pilot would be caught dead without them… :smiling_imp:

1 for 1, huh? Ok, one of my Wegens for one of your Dunlop Tortex, gee, that’s a great deal!

If you were interested in Claytons, I’d be game. The Wegens look like cool pics to try out. I saw those over at Greg Boyd’s . . .

Loren, where do you come up with these terrific ideas? I don’t think that a one to one trade for a depleted uranium pick is such a good deal, though. I would need at least two for one if I were to take your offer seriously.

On a more serious note, what I have to say about depleted uranium definately belongs in the controversial topics. I am not very fond of A-10’s, either. I lived in Tucson for many years, and A-10’s fly low over the city constantly to take off and land at Davis Monthan Air Force Base. Twenty five years ago one almost got me. I was sitting outside on the University of Arizona campus, and I heard the loud noise of a plane flying very low. What I didn’t know at the time is that the plane had no pilot at that point, and it crashed about one quarter mile from where I was sitting. Several people were not as lucky as I was.

Okay Barry, I’m feeling generous, I’ll go 2 for 1

Seriously though, I’ve heard people talking about the Wegens picks, but haven’t run across any, so I had no idea what they sell for. I just looked them up at FQMS…$15. bucks for 3-4 picks, eh? All the more reason to try to find someone who doesn’t like them and wants to unload - the sure aren’t cheap to experiment with :astonished:

Loren

Sure, shoot me a PM and let me know what thickness and shape(s) you have. Are any of them that yellowish “Ultem” stuff? I’ve yet to try picks made from that.

Loren

The Wegens are nice picks, i don’t like them for everything, but for a little extra cut and volume, they do the trick. Very clear tone. Mostly i use Proplecs, though.

The other thing about paying $5/pick, i’m guaranteed to lose at least one within a couple of days, where the $0.50 picks never seem to disappear.

Yeah man, I know what ya mean about losing 'em

So lemme see… you can pick your friends, and you can pick your nose, but you can also pick your friend’s picks? :stuck_out_tongue:

I have some rubber picks that I got from a Ukulele site. They are pretty strange. I’m not much of a picker - I have always played the guitar with my fingers - so I don’t know much about picks, but these rubber things seem strange to me. Tha size and shape are OK but they don’t exactly slide off the strings. In fact, they sort-of feel like they grab the strings and don’t want to let go. I tried them once and put them back in their little glassine envelope to live their lives of leisure.

ok - ok - I’m joining in here…

Tom found these boomerang shaped purple picks called “LePik” and he loves them, but we can’t find them for sale ANYWHERE. He likes either the .73 or .88. I’ll actually PAY for them if anyone has some!!!

This site says they’ve got the last of 'em. The .88s are here.

thank you thank you thank you, rh - Tom has been looking for these for 2 years!!! I ordered him 4 packs - that should hold him for a long time!!!

I’m happy to exchange a mizrab for one of your picks that you consider would be best for mountain dulcimer.

Umm, whats a mizrab, and what sort of pics do dulcimer players typically use? I’m clueless on both…

dulcimer players use anything from cut up margarine tubs, to guitar picks. I personally use .88 Dunlaps.

A mizrab is a sitar pick. Google here for pictures.
