There are a number of Celtic and Renaissance influenced prog-rock bands even today. Here are a few:

Jethro Tull (of course)
Blackmore’s Night
Broceliande (a.k.a. Avalon Rising)
Bohinta (with Martin Furey)
Iona
.
.
.
Maybe even the latest Dervish, with only two tunes clocking in at under 4 minutes. Maybe that’s Prog-influenced Trad!

I think there are several dozen at least. Don’t ask me to name them all.

Wow, Beeb, I was surprised that you included the local Avalon Rising. I have only heard them as Broceliande, their Early Music-Celtic-y incarnation. They must be more famous that I thought. I exchange email pleasantries with Margaret Davis, the harpist.

Actually, I know about them because I cobbled together a CD of their free downloads when they were on MP3.com. They apparently listen to quite a bit of late 60’s and early 70’s progressive and psychedelic music. “Reborn” has the Moody Blues written all over it, and I bet they would do an incredible job of the Stones’ “Paint it Black” or the Byrds’ “Eight Miles High”.
