Panflute Question

Hi Everyone,
I’ve been playing the Tinwhistle for about 2 years and more recently have picked up the Fife. I enjoy both instruments very much but to be honest my wife has never really warmed up to either. She finds them kind of shrill and hard on the ears. Of course part of this may be my playing ability. The other day however, something strange happened. I was listening to clips of different wind instuments when my wife walked in. She asked what was playing and I said it was a Panflute. She said I really like the soothing sound, why don’t you get one. To be honest I have never really considered the Panflute but thought okay I’ll take a look. There seems to be a lot of resources out there but it seems that there are not a lot of makers in this country. So here is my question to some of you Panflute players. Who made your Panflute? Where did you get it? And last but more important, How do you like it? Any advice on a first Panflute would also be welcome. Any help would be great.

Thanks

Hi Eric,

We were just recently having a good talk about pan flutes here:

There’s a couple of good links to suppliers.

Please have a look at my friend Douglas Bishop’s site…
