Pakistani or Pucker

This is slightly off-topic, but I went to the OT board and it’s full of nutters.
Also, I know there are a few highland pipers out there.

Somebody sent me these pictures - Pakistan or not?

That back cover looks decidedly dodgy.

Opinions would be appreciated.

The electric cable seems to indicate the cover includes a bag heater. Very handy, that.

PP=Probably Pakistani

It seems they are on a Japanese auction site.

I told the guy who sent me the pics that you get what you pay for.

I thought I could recognise Pakistan pipes because they are usually made from light rosewood with metal ferrules,
but after looking at their distributer’s site I see they are now producing sets from ‘black’ rosewood.

upon close investigation, that CD appears to be Michael Jacksons "Beat It.
A sure fire giveaway that they’re paki pipes

Looking into the bore of the chanter, seeing its decidedly ‘light’ color in contrast to the outside of it… tells me they are Pakistani, or some other low budget set.

Yes they appear to be of Pakistani manufacture, but more importantly, the cheaper end of the market.
Hobgoblin here in the UK do some very good sets of Pakistani Pipes for around £200 with Chanter and Drones not made of Shesham wood but something much heavier and fine-grained.
I bought a set (chiefly for the Drones) to make a 440Hz A Set and they are very good, the chanter tuning about half a semitone flat of concert Bb.

I love the Islamabad tartan!!!

that would be pine with black paint on it, right?

Naw, looks to me like a set of Scottish highland pipes you have there
