Paddy Canny - RIP

Word just arrived Paddy Canny has left us. His music never failed to move me.

These photos are strictly copyright, placed here in memory of a man I knew. The Irish Voice, Irish Abroad etc are to keep their grubby mitts off them as they are not here for their use

Another giant leaves us. May he be happy and peaceful wherever he is now.

..

That first shot is a teriffic photo. The second is good, but the first is special; you have a gift for portaiture. No doubt its frustrating, but I can see why people have been pinching your photos.

And I’m sorry to hear of his death.

It feels like there’s a changing of the guard underway; the last of the pre-revival figures are coming to the end.

I preferred the second shot meself..more for the mood than the subject.

That’s neither here nor there.

It is a great tragedy to lose another one of the old school, so soon after Kitty and others of her generation but the music will live on..

It always has..

Slan,
D.

It’s been a sad couple of months. Three gone: Joe Ryan, Kitty Hayes, and now Paddy.
I heard on Clare FM that there’s going to be an event for Paddy over in Tulla tonight. Joan Hanrahan said that she felt lucky to have known these people and lived in their time. Some of us weren’t as lucky but at least we got to know their playing. And thanks to Peter, we have some luvly images. Good on ya, Peter, for letting us see them even though some have abused them in the past.
