Either the guy was nutz…
or Nathan was a really bad flute player.

remember…one man’s music may well be another man’s “rosebud.”

Well, it’s the Springs after all. Can’t have liberals or flute players.

Sharp? You want sharp? That’s not sharp! THIS is sharp! :swear:

Well with the flute you draw local critics/psychos. What is the range of a fife again?

maybe we should send Jim in to busk…

his wife could patrol the parameter. :smiling_imp:

the fife?
malcontents and do-nothings.

That’s awful. I hope the guy can still play the flute.

Michael

why? so he can be shot instead?

Stabbed in the neck…that’s pretty personal.

Sometimes I play outside; uilleann pipes if alone (evasive action’s definitely out of the question), or cittern and flute if with a friend (strength in numbers is a Good Thing).

A few of my neighbors say they like hearing the music whether I’m indoors or out. “Free concerts”, one called it, which is being a bit too kind, but I’ll take the props anyway. No threats so far. Fingers crossed.

I often play banjo outside on my porch in Brooklyn. Never occurred to me that I would be an easy target for a ‘drive by’, but then again, I often have the cover of the gardeners with the leaf blowers and hedgers, 'etc. Perhaps I should stick to the flute on which I am much more comfortable…

Colorado Springs teen stabbed to death while playing flute

An 18-year-old Colorado Springs man who witnesses say was playing his flute when he was stabbed in the neck has died of his injuries.
Nathaniel Hughes underwent surgery at Penrose Hospital following the attack at Westwood Village Apartments on Wednesday night.

Police spokesman Sergeant Scott Schwall says Hughes died about 10:30 p.m. Thursday. An autopsy is planned.

The Violent Crimes Unit of the Colorado Springs Police Department is investigating.

This was the second deadly stabbing in Colorado Springs in less than 24 hours. Twenty-three-year-old Nicholas Murphy was stabbed to death early Wednesday.

No arrests have been made in either case.

Man, that’s terrible. I hope they catch the guy, and soon.

just goes to show you…you never know. :sniffle:

Life (and death) is what happens while you’re making
other plans. Who said that?

I’d opt for a shoot first policy but it might really cut down the tip tally.

Oh Jim… that would be John Lennon. I think he found that out to be true in the hardest way.

A disturbing and sad story. All of which again reinforces Monty Python’s “The Advantages of Not Being Seen”!

…and another reason I like fluting from a mountaintop; not only are the acoustics beautiful — but they don’t know where it’s coming from.

Although, I was a bit embarrassed to learn that a few locals from one lovely spot that I had been playing regularly had come to believe the flute echoing down the mountain was produced by spirits, since no one they knew played the instrument. I suppose in a way they were right (hic). I stopped playing there afterwards, however.

Hopefully he resists arrest and gets shot, if we’re lucky.

Or perhaps he simply will pick the wrong person to attack next time. We can only hope.
