OT: Staying in the Co. Clare and Ennis

If all goes as planned, (and I dont cave into something else) I will be in Ennis this summer at the summer school Meitheal. The week there of instruction is covered as far as accomodations, but I would like to get more suggestions from those who’ve been in the area as to where would be a safe bet on affordable, clean sleeping (B&B) for the first day of arrival and maybe a day or so after the school ends. Also, what is the going rate for a night at an affordable B&B?

thanks,

My wife and I were in Ennis last may. Our B&B was about $50 per person per night if my memory is working. There are lots of them in and around Ennis. The town has a website, www.ennis.ie , which may be a good starting place for your search.

Eric,
I just tried the Ennis site and it is not responding. Try again later, it is a nice site.

There’s a hostel fairly close to where the school is held [the Abbey hostel], you’d want to book in advance during the summer

In The Abbey Hostel works a close friend of mine, Ivan, from Milan, and he’s a great bodhran player.

There are always session in the hostel, with people from allover the world.

I think is a great place to stay, different from a comfortable b&b, but a great place for knowing peoples and playing.

If you are going there, say a big hello to Ivan from me!

I highly recommend the Westbrook House, I went there with my future Mrs at the end of July. At that time of year the price was something like 30 euros /person/night. It’s a nice B&B on Galway Road, about ten minute walk from the centre of Ennis.

Then again just music-wise, the Abbey hostel would sound tempting, too..

Thanks for the replies, keep 'em coming!
