OT sorta: Your first St. Patrick's Day gag

The Whiskytones got two gigs this year on St. Pat’s. One is for a major oil company (which pays well, I might add). The gig was secured by another band member who relates the following: The exec who booked us, wants to make sure that one of our members (who plays pipes) will “pipe in the haggis.” They will also have poetry reading (no doubt Robbie Burns).

SIGH. True story. Whoops, gotta run. Gonna go play koto at the Chinese Arts Center. Then its down to the Federal building for cultural sensitivity training.

All things Celtic, I guess. I know that in past Chiffy years, people have mentioned playing Amazing Grace and Scotland the Brave at St. Pat’s parades. But this one really got me. At least their money is green. :boggle:

Hasn’t happened yet, but if anyone asked me to play on St. Paddy’s (or any other) it would be a gag.

First gig was a few years back at a restaurant, one of the local establshed “spots”. My cohorts included an old-timey guitarist and a melodica player who used a rubber tube to blow into it so he could play it on his lap. Blech. Never again.
