OT-? PM Graveyard

Hey there,

I’ve tried to send a couple of PMs lately, but they just seem to go to my “out box,” to languish there for all eternity. Any suggestions?

Thanks,

No E

Could it be that your “sent box” is 100% full?
Or maybe the receiver’s “in box” is 100% full?

My PMs to others stay in the outbox until they’ve been read, and then they’re found in the sentbox. Full capacity doesn’t matter; the oldest messages just get pushed out into the void, as it were. Both my out- and sentboxes have been at 100% capacity for quite some time now (don’t ask about my housekeeping!). Like as not, the people being PM’d aren’t logging in, just lurking, assuming they’re perusing the board and not away on some task or adventure. There’s no way for me to know if I have a PM unless I log in one way or the other (which is how I’m set up). One reliable solution is to post a thread with a title such as “[name], check yer PMs, please!”. That might get things going.

…There’s no way for me to know if I have a PM unless I log in one way or the other…

Wouldn’t it be easier to have the system send you an e-mail whenever there is a PM waiting for you?

Yes, it would, but I’ve been accused of doing things the hard way before. It just doesn’t matter to me that much; I check out the Chiffboard daily, anyway, and I’ll log in to check PMs and then log out if I don’t care to log in for the board in general on a given day. Works for me.

Nanohedron is right, the PM stays in the “outbox” until it’s opened, then it goes to the “sentbox” after it’s read. There’s a box you can check in your Profile titled, “Notify on new Private Message:” This sends you an email from C&F the minute you have a new PM.

I’ve never understood people who post, “_____, I just sent you a PM.”
