Has anyone read his books? What do you guys think of them? I’ve first read the 1st book of his 1st trilogy, The Circle & The Cross. An excellent read. I’ve also just finished Carolan’s Concerto which is a very moving piece of work by Mr Mor.
Check out his website at: http://www.caiseal.net
For a completely different opinion: I tried to read the first volume of his 1st trilogy, but was so disappointed, not to say disgusted, by his style of writing that not only did I not finish the book, I also threw it away afterwards! As far as I can remember (it’s been a while), I found the way he wrote primitive, complete with Celtic romanticism, unconvincing dialogue and stereotyped characters (evil/fanatical missionary, noble and wise female chieftan, etc.). In short, kind of “the book version of Riverdance” (if that makes any sense).
Can’t please everybody, I guess…
On the other hand, I’ve heard good things about the Carolan book. However, I am not going to throw money at it after my first experience with his writing.
Cheers,
Jens
