OT - Bagpipe Writer for Mac

Seeing a recent post about Bagpipe Writer reminded me…

I’ve recently moved from a pc to a macbook - and I haven’t been able to find a programme that will let me access all of my bagpipe writer (and .bww) music.

Any of you mac users got a solution, please?

Thanks,
Pamela

Your only options may be VMWare or Parallels in which you can run a virtual Windows machine within the Macintosh operating system. With either of these you can run your old Windows software on your Mac. Good luck.

Hi
I just did a quick Google search using the terms “Bagpipe music notation”

Andrew’s Bagpipe Tips: Guide to abc Music Notation for Bagpipes: www.bagpipejourney.com/articles/abc_for_bagpipes.shtml
has a great batch of tips including the software: Bagpipe Writer: www.celticpipes.net/

The Bagpipe Writer web site says that its software is cross-platform (Macintosh and Windows) and “import formats are: ABC, BMW, BWW and PIO (PiobMaster, for the Highland Bagpipe - currently Windows only )”

This may be what you are looking for.

I find that as time passes, there are more and more windows-only software gaps being filled with good Mac-compatible applications.

Good luck.

Uh, no it doesn’t.

From the FAQ:
Q: Will there be a Bagpipe Music Writer for the Mac?
A: There are no plans to develop Bagpipe Music Writer for the Macintosh.

such a pity as there is a huge resource of bww stuff… but I’ll just hang onto it, and who knows, one day there might be a mac bww reader.

thanks for the replies
Pamela
