Orion's Belt Continued

Does this mean we can expect Orion’s hat, shoelaces, and codpiece for the rest of the week? :astonished:

O-rye-on or O-ree-on? I had only ever heard the first pronunciation, but then I was told that most Merkuns use the second.

djm

ORly?

I pronounce it Or-i-un.

Perhaps some Americans somewhere pronounce it “O-ree-on”, but I’ve never heard it pronounced any way but “O-rye-on”. (For frame of reference, I’ve lived in TN, VA, TX and WA, and often visited NC, KS and OR.)

Most Americans also pronounce the “a.” Some of us may say it as “Uhmurikuh” but that’s a dialect thing.

Everyone I know pronounces it “oh-RYE-un”. “Un”, not “on”. Never heard “OH-ree-on” yet.

Maybe them Canucks got Orion and Oreos confused.

Nope, it was a street or subdivision somewhere in Michigan. I was told in no uncertain terms that Canadians have it dead wrong calling it O-rye-on (or -un, that’s probably closer, but I didn’t want to confuse the stream half way through).

djm

Interesting. Didn’t know I spoke Canadian.
