Ontario, Canada fluters, Re: Lost/Stolen flutes

Hi Ontario fluters,
A parcel with two of my flutes sent through Canada Post have “disappeared” between the Belleville and Toronto (Mississauga) post offices. This may well be a case of employee theft.
Please watch out for:

  1. a Hammy keyless in its case. Serial number ending in “08”.
  2. a 6 key Reviol in its case, serial #124 (if my memory is correct). It has a sea shell surrounding a celtic sterling silver design on the crown cap. Unmistakable!
Please notify me if you spot one of these stolen flutes.
    thanks,
    Paul

Oh that stinks Paul!!

I’ll keep a watch out for them online and on the street.

Gary

Hi,
I’m sorry to hear that!..

I have here a Brazilian Kingwood flute on the records with Serial No.78 that has 4 keys and I just checked my email records and, yes, it’s African Blackwood with Serial No.124 and one of the special head plugs with Paua ring and Silver disc…

I hope it turns up again… i might have some pictures somewhere on the hard drive of the headplug at least…might also have pics or the flute…

All the best,
Maurice

Good news: While the Canada Post/USPS tracking systems “lost” the parcel containing two flutes, the parcel finally arrived at its
destination…two weeks late. Phew. My fear about the package being lost or stolen proved groundless.
Thanks to Maurice Reviol for double-checking the serial number of one of the flutes.
Thanks also to Canada Post’s local supervisor who quickly started a search for the package although the search proved fruitless.
Notes for the future when sending flutes by mail/courier:

  1. Record the serial number of the flute(s)
  2. Take pics of the flute(s) for identification
  3. Send only one flute per package
  4. Fully insure the package
  5. Don’t depend on tracking systems

I am very glad to hear that it worked out. I am always a nervous wreck when shipping is involved although I have never had it not work out, it just seemed horrible. A day late seems like a week. Two weeks and they must be lost. I fully sympathize. Once again. Congratulations and I am glad it worked out.
