? on D note

I’ve played whistle for some time and I’m use to playing the middle D note 0XXXXX
Just curious,I’m new to the flute, how does everyone play the D note on the flute,if it makes any difference,I’m playing a 3-piece polymer Tony Dixon flute.
Thanks for your comments.

same fingering for low and middle D on flute as on whistle
high D can vary, however, depending on the instrument, from OXX OOO to OXX OXX
and sometimes OXX OOX works best.
Some can play XXX XXX for middle D and get the enharmonic tones between with good lip. This is how Ian Anderson gets his “dirty” sound on his flutes…finger low, blow high.
Hint for your flute: Play the C# before it, then the D to see which High D is best in tune for your model flute.
Old flutes also might require venting of the D# key for D, and the long-C key for the C#

How do you like the Dixon I am also new to the flute and contemplating the “Dixon Polymer Irish Flute”
How do you like yours so far and have your compared it to other flutes.

I’ve found that it is easier to use OXX XXX instead of XXX XXX, although I use the latter when playing the whistle. With the top hole open, you don’t have to be so precise with your breath…

I play a Hall crystal D flute.

On my Dixon,i use 0xxxxx,which sounds o.k to me,but i’ll certainly try some of the other fingerings suggested so far-at a more neighour friendly time-i live in aflat(apartment)and it’s 10.15pm now!

It is the only flute I’ve tried.I seem to like it ok,a freind of mine who is a good player makes it sing,so I know what its capable of.
