Just bought a really nice Eb instrument here on C&F and it’s my first view of one of these and I’m knocked out.
I appreciate these are much sought after but if anyone is selling another in E, F or a higher pitch I would be very interested.
thanks
If you find nothing here, check ebay - the olwell shop puts up a bamboo flute there periodically as their production quantity (bamboo flutes) has significantly been reduced and this seems like the outlet for them now.
Thankyou for that information.
Get in touch (or stay in touch) with Doc Jones.
Chris Dawson (Rhiannon Flutes) in France also makes excellent bamboo flutes that in my experience are every bit as good as the Olwells and might be easier to obtain in the higher keys depending on Chris’s supply of bamboo.
Here’s a tune played on one of his little G bamboo flutes…for some reason this flute always brings out my inner Conal O’Grada:

As rama said, the Olwells don not make many these days but when one is available they put it on ebay. You just missed one, in fact, two weeks back.
As you can see by the final price, they are not cheap. I’ve had a few Olwell bamboo flutes and they were all very nice flutes.

thanks everyone..excellent site.
If anyone has an equally nice F or possibly G ( this Eb is mint) and they want to trade I’d be interested
This flute has amazing tone but the stretch on the left hand is very challenging for me.
