hi, im just wondering if anyone has either a pat olwell F, Eb, C or Bb bamboo flute for sale..? If so, please send me a private message, or email me at fionnbarra@gmail.com
thanks
What’s the matter Finbar, that Cocus Olwell I sold you have you a bit addicted now, eh? Good luck finding Bamboo Olwells for sale at a reasonable price these days. One of his C flutes sold on ebay for over $400. recently, and a G went for $200. + I’m sure they’re out there to be had, but you’re going to have to pay a premium.

So with Pat out of this now, who’s doing high-end bamboo flutes?
If I knew where Pat got his Bamboo, I’d have at it. ![]()
Central Florida is pretty big though, and wading around in Gator country has it’s perils…

bump..
Checked http://www.firescribble.net/flute/makers.html and they had these listed as makers of bamboo flutes.

Hope one of these sites help.
hey people,
I managed to acquire an Olwell bamboo flute in C. Im sill on the lookout for pat olwell bamboos in F, Eb, or low Bb (if possible).
Anyone willing to part with one can email me at:
fionnbarra@gmail.com
thanks
sorry about this this but… bump!
cheers,
finbar.
Also look for Rhiannon flutes by Chris Dawson. Brian Finnegan and Jean-Michel Veillon play them. When Flook! was in town last Spring I had a go at Brian’s G# by Chris Dawson. I couldn’t get it to sound as good as Brian did but as an owner of a bamboo Olwell, I was struck by the similarity in craft and appearance. Brian plays bamboo Olwells too so that could say something about the comparability between the makers.
Cheers,
Aaron
C’mon Loren where’s your dedication? I bet Rudall would’ve braved the swamps.
Doc
That would be an immense finger stretch! Probably sound great though.
Just made a B nat one, hummm the strech
but playable
Patrick.
Very tempting.check this out - not olwell though
These are “ergonomic” bansuris. Scroll down to the 31 inch length key: A#. Thats the Bb bass. promotional price $120. You can even enjoy sound sample. Not ITM though.
Very interesting. I know nothing about bansuris, other than enjoying what I’ve heard of Indian music played on them. They look to be six-hole simple system flutes. Do they play a straight diatonic scale?
Yes, very interesting. I believe they are tuned like
our flutes. One could play ITM on 'em with the same
fingerings.
hey guys, im still on the lookout for the olwell bamboos (F, Eb) that people might have and are not using, so any private messages/emails would be welcomed and all offers considered..
cheers,
finbar
sorry to persist.. bump ![]()
Try: www.billymiller.com
I re-recommend Chris Dawson (Rhiannon flutes). He’s in Europe so no fuss with exchange etc.
Interesting, but not much functional on his website at this point. ![]()
