Not familiar with this whistle

Looks like a typical mass-produced whistle with molded mouthpiece. The B&W photo makes it look like nickel but the info says it has a brass “finish”.

I tried cleaning up the image in Photoshop in hopes of being able to read the “Made in …”, but can’t make it out clearly. Looks like it may say England.

It looks like it says feadog on the top.

Weird. The photo looks exactly like the Mk I Feadog, both the tube and the fipple. The tube says “Feadog” and has the double ring on the end, just like the Mk I Feadog I found recently. The fipple looks the same, too. They stopped making the Mk I 20+ years ago, I believe. It wouldn’t surprise me if they just used what they thought was a generic photo of a whistle, or it may actually be a Mk I Feadog.

You find the weird ones, don’t you, Denny?

Yep, that’s a Mk I Feadóg. The label reads “IRISH WHISTLE / Feadóg / Made in Ireland / BY / McCullough Pigott Mfg. Ltd.” I wasn’t aware there was a black+nickel version, or maybe that’s a B&W photo. My 1984 green+brass is still going strong after 25 years - and looks suitably funky at this point.

Harris-Teller is a wholesale jobber. I used to deal with them as the acoustic guy at Sam Ash. They do sell the Feadóg D (otherwise unspecified) in their current catalog, but it’s unlikely they have a hidden stash of Mk I’s. :really:

Maybe we should ask them on the off chance they DO have a stash of Mk Is.

Yup. I sure do. I’ve been finding these things totally by accident.

It appears as black+nickel because it’s a B&W photo which I discovered when I got it into Photoshop.

Be interesting see what one would actually receive upon ordering one. Any takers? :stuck_out_tongue:

I just ordered two. If they are Mk I’s I’ll have WhOA fix. If they are current model Feadogs, I’ll have a couple give-away whistles. I’ll report back when they arrive. Now where was that old thread with photos of the various models of Feadogs?

The whistles arrived today. Alas, no Indiana Jones find here: they are current-production Mk IIIs. I have several Feadogs, both Pro and brass, and have tweaked most of them over the past few years. What fun to play a stock Feadog right out of the box again! I may keep them just to have a stock Feadog in the jar.

BTW, their website was very easy to use. I ordered the whistles last Wednesday evening and had them shipped the cheapest way (US$18 and change for two whistles and shipping). The company sent me an email Thursday night saying the whistles had been shipped and they were at my door this afternoon. The whistles were well packed in sturdy box. Good service, I’d say.
