Don’t know exactly where to put this, but I was wandering if anyone has any recommendations for welsh slow airs.
May not be quite what you’re looking for, but you could try this page for a start … http://www.mochpryderi.com/Tose.html. Then there are (or have been) a couple of booklets published for the recorder that feature Welsh tunes … they turn up on eBay occaisionally.
Thank you Kypfer, that’s just what I was looking for.
I’ll give you a few ideas, then, if you like.
There are two nice ones on this video of my young friend Caradog at the end of our Swansea session a few months back So these are Morfa’r Frenhines (The Queen’s Marsh) and Bryniau Iwerddon (The Hills of Ireland), both played in EMinor here, and both eminently suitable for whistle.

Some other well-known tunes you might come across, some of which you may find on the musictraditionswales youtube site above:
Meillionnen
To^n Garol
Ffarwel i Aberystwyth
Gla^n Meddwdod Mwyn
Trefforest Waltz (not sure if you’re after waltzes, but it’s a great tune)
There are many more good 'uns, of course, especially tunes associated with songs in minor keys and modes and whatever, but perhaps someone else will pitch in with others of their own liking.
If you can’t find them, I could send you some sound files (unless you live in South Wales and want to come learn them in person!)
