new

In case some of you are interested, i have a new band that’s using uilleann pipes in an unusual but hopefully hip context.
you can hear some stuff at
www.myspace.com/mydeardisco

Not selling anything, im just curious to see what you all think!
All the best,

Tyler Duncan

Sounds like AfroCelt meets Pink Floyd meets Bjork. An interesting mix. You make it work. Well done!!

Yeah. I didn’t think it’d work, but you pull it off. It’s about a thousand times better than Davy Spillane’s crap with synths.

I like it. The piping is well articulated and the recording sounds very clear. Good job!

I really, really liked it
Thanks for posting the link Tyler.

And I do agree, Barzilian girls and Tom Waits is a good mixture

I must say disco music is not to quite to my taste. However considering that you mixed Didge with Uilleann Pipes shows that you are willing to step ‘outside the norm’ and create something of your own. It shows that you are willing to experiment, that alone is something to be commended. I’d be really surprised if nobody in the record business would be willing to back you as you’ve got a good idea going. Well done, I can appreciate the artistry and technique applied to the tracks.

Cheers L42B

a bit like eric reigler’s,bad haggis, nice and tasty.what kind of chanter are you playing?good music, i would buy it.

Some very interesting stuff going on there. I liked it far better than the funk band feel that the Fred Morrison Band has been trying to go for these days…The chanter work on “Mr. Manly” was manly indeed. Nicely done!

For a few years now, I’ve been tempted to put some kind of experimental/indie dance kind of thing together involving uilleann pipes used in a thoroughly un-traditional and for the most part, unrecognizeable context. Drat! You beat me to it! [Shakes fist in the air]

Like, funkajazzelic dudes and dudette.

The first thing the chanter reminded me of was Jerry O’s “The Gift” recording. He does some jazzy stuff on several tracks very similar to my ear. But being a self confessed Floyd fanatic, I can also see the parallel there. Great stuff!

I was reminded by some of the phrasing and rythm, of Laurie Anderson and just a wee touch of Suzanne(sp?) Vega and pinch of Peter Gabriel.

Thanks guys. I’m playing a dave williams chanter on the recording.
