For those of you wondering why I haven’t been around for a few days, to offer my wit and wisdom to the board (I WISH!) it’s because I’ve had my head buried (metaphorically, of course) in the computer.
The aim, was to bring three new (and totally free) listings services to Shanna Quay. One is for Irish tunes, another for Irish songs and the third for Irish music on CD. Each Tune and Song listing consists of thousands of tunes and hundreds of songs, cross referenced to the tune books and song books that they appear in. The tunes are also sub-categorised by type (jigs, reels, etc).
We’ve also added the most extensive Irish music on CD listing we’ve ever had (over 300 titles, for your information.
The lists are still fairly ‘low-tech’, and so some extensive scrolling and wearing out of finger-skin may be involved, unfortunately. But, I’m working on an easier-to-use system.
The catch? Well, none really, but you could buy the books from us, but using the lists is, naturally, free.
You can find links to all three pages at the top of our home page at:
Steve, that is quite an impressive list of CDs! I was surprised to find Bohola, a group from Chicago.
I also was looking for Kevin Crawford’s “D flute” CD. It is a very hard one to find, do you know why?
For the Tune finder section, in addition to what you have, could it be possible to have a listing of the tune books, then by clicking on them it would open to the index (list or picture of the page), because I would not buy a book just for a couple of tunes, and trying to figure out what each book contains is way too time consuming.
Just a thought.
Real cool place you live in! love the pictures.

Thank you for your very encouraging and helpful comments. I’ll ask about K.C’s album and get back to you. I was talking to him only a few weeks ago, but didn’t mention it, obviously. Tommy O’Sullivan (of Sliebh Notes and ‘Paddy Keenan &…’ fame was in the shop on Thursday (what a shameless name-dropper I am!) and we were talking about the difficulty of getting some CD’s. But, I’ll certainly ask.
