New to whistles

I spent about 12 hours this weekend reading everything I could find about whistles and listening to clips and other mp3’s. Based on the positive responses here and lack of ability of knowing anywhere in dallas I could view whistles on hand…I ordered from thewhistleshop.com to be replied today they were out of stock…/sigh canceled my order…anyone in dallas tx area know a place you actually pick up and buy a whistle with more than one to choose from?

If you have any Celtic gift shops in your area you could probably pick up a Waltons High D with Instructional Book w/ songs and CD. My high D’s I built myself… for a total cost of around $4 a piece…

well if you really want to play, you can just go to your local music store and get what they have (gen or clarke or whatever), that will hold you over till your whistles arrive.

Brook Mays on 114 (the warehouse one) had some, that’s where I got my Clarke. We had to go back in the back to dig them up, they weren’t in the normal store area, so ask. The had a Feadog (sp?)set (Book, CD, & whistle) as well as Clarkes.

In Arlington Mars Music has at least Acorn & Clarke, but the selection may be a bit more limited now - they are going out of business and having a sale.

thanks so much…gonna head to dallas today to try and find a couple more…just getting started but I want to have a few to try as I have’nt found one that is truely the sound I am looking for..

Which whistle(s) did you originally order from The Whistle Shop? If you don’t want to wait for them to get it/them in stock, you might want to try other on-line suppliers. Have you checked out Shanna Quay or The Lark in the Morning or Melody’s?
