New "Tapered Bore Flutes" from Tony Dixon

Hi!
There are new “Tapered Bore Flutes” in the catalogue from Tony Dixon:

  • so I bought the non-tuneable Tenor Flute DX014 a few years ago, and now I see that it is superceded by the TB014?!
    Who knows the TB014?
How would you evaluate the TB014 comparing it with the older one (DX014)?

Greetings from Germany,
Michael

That’s pretty cool. Depending on the thickness of the polymer used, it should sound and play more like a traditional wooden flute. For example, you wouldn’t need to lip up notes in the upper octave.

Please note I’ve not played one of these…didn’t know they existed until your post. But I’ve long been a fan of several of Tony’s instruments (Dixon trad whistle, the 3 piece delrin flute he makes, and even his basic polymer cheapie whistle).
