What do you mean, “pretense or snobbery”? I don’t know of any whistle making sites showing pretence or snobbery. Correct me if I’m wrong. Did you mean something else?
I looked on the excellent site you gave but could see no reference to making whistles or any other wind instruments. Where did I go wrong?
You’d have to check the thread on the Yahoo Flutemaker’s forum where the need for a new forum was suggested to read what was meant by that remark.

SORRY! I was speaking of other sites on flute/whistle making besides the posts on this one! Please forgive the unintended slight! Many sites/boards have a snobbish attitude with new instrument makers.
I realize there is little info available now at the Simpleflutes site, but I politely asked if you could “contribute” to a “new site”, yes? The traffic in the Whistle Forum area is not really for makers/designers of woodwinds. Most of the design posts are “off topic” for this board. I am sorry for any misunderstandings.
I will say though, that there are quite a few “hecklers” here that belittle those with simple designer and acoustic questions. Maybe they feel more important if they can nit-pick any flaws in a person’s post(?)
