Yeah, it’s me. Mark Bailey, M.W. Bailey, Banjoclause, Banjofiend, etc. ad nauseum. I’m still alive, still playing most of what I was playing before. Still trying to be at least partially humorous.
For those who have never “encountered” (lol) me before, I play:
Sweetheart folk fife (3 of 'em, all in D, one each in apple, rosewood, and black walnut, and not all at the same time)
Sweetheart Neoceltic flute (the keyless, all-wood one, the one they dont make anymore, that is identical in appearance to the more “economical” foreign-mass-produced low-priced ones now on their site
5-string Banjo (both modern and replica (homemade) Minstrel type)
I play pretty regularly with the North Harris County Dulcimer Society, mainly on banjo (backup, occasional lead – its all about the dulcimers, you know ) and folk fife (loud-voiced lead in high-noise or outdoor venues, also backup when needed), and less often on the big flute (backup and occasional lead). I also jam with the same instruments above with another local Dulcimer enthusiasts group.
I am not at present a musical professional, no matter what you might have heard
Hi Mark,
Welcome! We will try not to hold the banjo playing against you… >
LOL! Thanks Jon. I appreciate that. it’s a disease, you know, not my fault but it is my problem. Like I posted on the list, lately the dulcimer folks seem to like my fifing better than my banjo-ing (especially when the fiddlers fail to show up), so there might be hope for me yet…
