New flute on the way

This flute’s in the mail to me today - it’s an 8 key lefty made by Dominic Allan, I had the chance to try a keyless loaner earlier this year and was really impressed - he customized this to the specs I asked for and has been great to work with. I’ll post a review and some sound bytes in a while. Can’t wait for it to get here early next week!! - Tod

Looks nice (and big :astonished: ). What model is it?

Lovely…

We’ll need a complete report on those interesting keys and rings, of course…

Well, it certainly looks gorgeous - hope it plays and sounds as well/good!

I always have had a soft spot for rod systems. . .no idea why.

Can’t wait to see and play your new flute! I will come visit in a couple of weeks, when it comes…

Sounds good, Jon… let’s set it up. The flute is his small hole model, “loosely based on a 19th century flute by Card” - based on the loaner, it has surprisingly good projection, is crisp, and air requirements are minimal . I had him modify the embouchure to a smaller diameter and greater chimney depth, identical to that of the M&E R&R (thanks to Eilam’s measurements), which I personally prefer for a more focused sound. Full review soon…
