new film about irish music in the big apple

i’ve heard of a documentary film that’s been made about the session scene in new york - any pipers involved? anyone out there involved? tell us more

I remember seeing a trailer for this, but i can’t remember where or what it was called. I had actually forgotten about it completely, and I had meant to tell others about it. Don’t remember seeing any pipers being featured though. Anyone else have any info?

And what ever happened to that uilleann documentary that was seeking help for funding? Any new word on how that’s coming along?

The Internet is an amazing place. It’s called “Beautiful People,” and here’s the trailer.

IIRC, the film that was being produced about piping is called “Good Piping.” It was made by a fellow named Davis Watson. I saw it at a private screening event this summer and it’s great. I can’t remember why it hasn’t been in wider release, but do recall hearing there’s been some kind of a holdup. I’ll see if I can find out what’s happened to it.

The Beautiful People covers the Dempsey’s session in NYC…great crowd of players good pints too

That is very cool. Didn’t see any pipers though. Maybe I’ll take a better look.
