New Copley flute!!

My new Copley flute arrived today and I’m a happy camper! I’m already seriously impressed with it, and I’ve only had it for a few hours.

Mine is the keyless blackwood model with sterling rings and slide. The workmanship is excellent and it’s a great looking flute to boot. The scale/intonation is superb, no lipping up or bending of notes is required to play in tune. The tone is rich and reedy with plenty of “bark”, exactly what I think an Irish flute should sound like. It’s incredibly easy to fill and play, and I consider that to be a real plus. It’s very responsive. Ornaments just seem to fly out of it. I’m really looking forward to discovering everything it’s capable of.

Additionally, Dave is a class act to work with. He promptly responded to all my emails, answered all my questions, and shipped my flute exactly when he said he would.

My thanks to all of you who have posted reviews and/or commented on it’s quality as this is what led me to order mine.

Merry Christmas!!

Deb

Congratulations. Dave C will retrofit for keys, too,
if ever one wants them.

Congratulations, Deb, on your new Copley! I know you’ll continue to get much enjoyment out of it. I’ll second all you said about Dave Copley, his customer service, and his flutes. I started out with a keyless, and then swapped those sections for a keyed version. I really love playing it.

Have fun, and Merry Christmas!

Jeanie

Yes, these seem to be flutes that are easy to play
initially and keep getting better and more interesting
as you improve. They are impeccably made.
The key work on the keyed
flutes is gorgeous.

A freind of mine has the same flute. I got to play it, and yes, it is very nice.

Max - does that mean Deb stole it from your friend?

I’m saving my pennies for keys even as we speak. Funny thing - I hadn’t thought that keys would be something I’d ever really want on an Irish flute, or I’d have gotten the block mounts when I ordered. I feel differently now that the flute has arrived. I’m going to be playing this flute for many years to come. It’s an instrument worthy of the additional investment.

Deb

Yeah, Jayhawk, I stole it!! He’s not getting it back either!!! I suppose he could try to TAKE it back, but he’d better bring some help.

Deb

Good for you Deb! Now, where were you last night? Northern Ireland? Know anything about bank jobs…

LOL, same type of flute.
