I just bought my first whistle a week ago. It’s a Feadog D. Iv’e read alot about tweaking and was wondering if anyone could tell me exactly whate I should do and how to do it. Also is there anywhere on the internet to get free sheetmusic?

I don’t know much about tweaking, but you could try searching the forum threads. I just searched and found this recent thread about Internet sites with free sheet music:

Some of the tweakers can chime in on the tweaking…not sure I’d tweak unless you’re sure you know what characteristics you’re wanting to change.
Whistle and Squeak has some tunes, at http://www.geocities.com/whistleandsqueak/index.html there are several others also. The tunes at this site have whistle tablature which is nice if you’re new to music.

Hi Boody, Welcome to the board!
I know that a well tweaked Feadog can be a vast improvement, but keep in mind that the art of tweakery can be just as difficult to master as playing the whistle. It’s certainly one of the fun parts of whistling. But it may be an idea to have a reserve ready before doing anything irreversable. If you’ve only had it for a week, I’d go no further than filling the cavity under the windway (the blu-tak tweak). Avoid anything requiring sanding, scraping, or such until you have a more advanced concept of the sound you want and some whistles to wreck. It’s awfully easy to tweak a whistle to death.

The sound of my faedog was starting to grate,all i did was compact some candle wax in the cavity and stand it upright in the little divides at the top of central heating radiator and it worked a treat it softened found its level and plays more tonal i think thats how id describe it, where as before it sounded harsh and just wrong.its been a week and its still in place and i love the new sound.
