Need help with name of tune...

Anyone familiar with the slip jig that begins at 6:56 in this video? Someone told me the name is “Dance With the White Dog” but can’t find it anywhere so just trying to verify it.

You can get there easily by clicking on “6:56” in the comment under the video.

The only examples I can find on the net are Gan Ainm:

Of course, on the YT vid it’s played in D instead of G.

Your “Dance with the White Dog” sounds plausible, the source being a step dance PA recording called “Up the Steps” by Gary Currie.

And the Scahill ABC indicates a step dance tape as the source.

I’m guessing it’s one of those odd tunes that are propagated via individual recordings like this made specifically to accompany the scary little girls, without a life in the larger tradition. I’ve had to learn a few of these to play for feis-type performances, and I’ve never heard them anywhere else.

Thanks MT. We figured it was a dance-specific tune.

To Dance With the White Dog is the name of a book by Terry Kay, also made into a movie. I did a search for music from the movie to see if this tune could be found, but can’t find any audio. Remains a mystery but appreciate your input.
