Tune ID help--thanks...

Anyone recognize this tune:

Sort of has a waltzy feeling, played kinda’ slow, but I wrote in a jig time. Perhaps it’s a Carolan. don’t know. I learned it by ear at the set dancing where I played in the band last night.

thanks.

I got nothin’. Seems perhaps like an English country dance tune, à la Playford. And pieces of Jockey to the Fair and Maggie Brown’s Favourite.

Quel impossible!

Yeah this group I play with for the set dancing is an eclectic group, so this not being Irish is a definite possibility, in fact quite probable if an expert like MT has no clue. I’ll just have to wait and go back to the source.

there was a French waltz, of course the Shetland tunes for that set. later at the session afterward, we had Swedish and Balkan tunes, Quebecois, but these guys know tons of Irish tunes as well.

I don’t know how they do it. I barely have enough brain cells for the Irish tunes.

thanks for the effort.

Cheers.

Yep, that sounds like West coast contradance. I used to play contras with a Québecois fiddler and a Balkan accordionist, and a similar eclectic mix of tunes.
