Are there any advantages to having a narrow bore D chanter? Is there a tonal difference? I’ve heard that they are “sweeter” is this also true?
All help appreciated

There is a noticable difference in timbre. Some people would certainly call them ‘sweeter.’ They are generally softer and less brash than a concert D with more harmonics than most concert D chanters.

Hi,
Can you fit a narrow bore chanter in D to a set/half set which came with a standard D chanter or do the drones etc have to match?
Cheers, Mac
You can put them together, but the drones will be out of balance with the narrow-bore chanter. You may be able to tone-down the level of the drones to match a narrow-bore D, but you run the risk of running into pressure-balance problems.

Can the drone reed bridles be adjusted enough to match the pressure of the new chanter? Or would new reeds of different design be better? How much do the dimentions
of drones for a narrow bore set differ from a concert set?
