Not sure if I’m posting this on the correct forum, hope so…
Can anyone tell me the name of the tune that Micho Russel plays on the flute on the “Ireland’s whistling ambassador” video? I’m pretty sure there’s only one tune he plays on flute in the video. Amongst my reasons for wanting to know its name is so that I can find another recording of it; on the video it starts with him already into it, and ends before he finishes, so I can’t learn the tune from the video.
If you post a fragment of the tune or give some indication how it goes it would be easier to help. A few bars from the start of the turn or any phrase will probably do.
It’s easier than that. It’s on Wooden Flute Obsession vol. 1, licensed from Pennywhistle Press from the video (no flute on the CD version). http://www.worldtrad.org/WFO_CD2.htm . A sound sample MP3 is also on that page, in Micho Russell’s ‘box’. BTW, the audio is from a DAT recording made as the video was recorded, as the audio through the video microphone was a bit tinny.
It’s (2:32 Reels) The Fermoy Lassies/The Reel with the Birl in It
on an Eb Flute
