Practice has been going well for me lately so I figured I’d post my setup. I’m just that pumped about it.

BarFly ABC → midi player (& Henrik Norbecks website for ABCs)
FM transmitter to my Cambridge soundworks table radio.
I gleaned all the MP3s I can from clips and snips and siamsa.org. Anyone know of any other sites with sample MP3s to download?
Get the free ABC for Mac (if you don’ already). Then you can drag the completed file onto the icon and it makes a .ps which you can make into a PDF with Distiller. Then it looks nice. The output on BarFly isn’t too good, and I would avoid the buggy YAPS, even though at times it will work with a missing field when ABC for Mac won’t. ABC makes better spacing and centering on the PDFs too.
Of course, none of ever use sheet music, even though it is much better for passin’ out to bandmembers etc and all those unfortunate people who can’t take the time to learn a new tune by listening to it over and over and over and over.
So, what are you using for a mic? I’ve got the MicFlex, which is great. (Another board member got a bad one on the first try, but got it replaced with no problem and, last I heard, was very happy with it.)
I’m sure one of these days I’ll find enough time to actually start recording some stuff. (Assuming, of course, that I finally run across the box that has the MicFlex in it.)
Someone please tell me where I can get the Slow Downer software. I have a pretty good idea what it does. (slows down mp3 files so you can learn to play them right?) Thanks
Try googling ‘amazing slow downer’. Or just click this link : www.ronimusic.com .
I have an archos microphone. I wouldn’t want to record myself just yet. Probably the best thing I could do would be to get an MP3 recorder and record some local sessions.
Windows media player also slows down mp3’s so that you can learn them.
Just click on the play tab at the top,and it gives you fast, normal and slow options
