My poor dog hates me...

Was just pawing through stuff on a shelf looking for a CD rom. Noticed my long ignored set of Generation whistles. Discovered that if you blow really hard the high G will play fully through three octaves…

What’d you say? Eh? Speak up? I can’t hear you over that ringing in my ears…

John

I’d be willing to bet that every dog within a 5 block radius is plotting revenge about now! Ouch! (Redwolf flattens her ears in sympathy).

Redwolf

Heh,
The first week i started trying to play, my dog would do a low howl. wwwwwooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

I think he has gotten used to it now. he either sits quietly or sleeps. Wither that or he is completely deaf!

Dan

Sometimes our dog would howl; sometimes now, he’s actually singing along, especially with the lower whistles. Now I’ll have to train his ear so that we’re in tune. If you think a low whistle can sound mournful…

Seriously, I damaged the hearing in my right ear by blowing a Gen in the 3rd octave. It was really bad for awhile, but got slightly better after a week or so. (Or maybe I just got used to being deaf.) Now for anything shriller than the Ó Briain Improved, I stuff cotton balls in my ears.

I have tinnitus and for me, any note over A in the second octave is pure torture! Having read what others do perhaps I should try ear plugs…

Hmmm, I haven’t seen warning stickers on Generations yet. That means you must be failing in your obligation as an American to sue…

Somewhere a poor lawyer is starving because you’re not carrying your share of the load…

John (who is American, lest someone think I’ve not the right to poke a bit of fun at us)

High G Generations don’t cause deafness…blowing the third octave in them does.

You can play a Clarke original through 3 octaves with some cross fingerings in the third octave.

E-mail me for a fingering chart of the 3rd octave if you want one. If I get a bunch of requests for one, I’ll post it here.
