Whenever I listen to the radio, I find some awesome music now and then that I can’t find stuff for on the session…here’s the current batch:
The Ghost (air)
The Magpie
Cold Shoulder (jig?)
Rothbury Road
Glasco Reel
A day and an age
Rights of Man (A different version than on the session, with an awesome b part that’s totally different )
I think you might be looking for the tune known as the “Glasgow” reel, which is a b#st#rdised version of Davy Arthur’s reel “Tam Lin”. It is on the “session”.
Sorry I can’t help you with any of the other titles. It might help if you knew whether they were from Scotland or Ireland, or wherever, and also who it was who you heard playing them.
I am intrigued about the version of “The Rights Of Man” with a different 2nd part.
I’ve heard that there are (at least) three versions of the B part of
“Rights of Man”. I think the version that each of us uses at session
depends on geography. I learned one version in Baltimore, MD,
and then had to get used to a different one when I came back to
Raleigh, NC. I’ve heard that at large gatherings like Swannanoa or
East Durham, all three versions can be heard simultaneously.
Apparantly, they clash like a Phillip Glass composition…
