Hi folks! I’m not a regular, but I come in and brouse a couple times a month. My problem today is this: I have just been diagnosed with acute
Leukemia, after never having spent a day in the hospital in my life! I’m a little down about this, and would normally resort to my whistles, but, as I play rather roughly and I check in for Chemotherapy this morning, I am leaving my whistles behind. Could I ask some of you to tootle a tune for me? Thanks! D
I will!
I’ll tootle Cricket’s March over the Saltbox, one of the cheeriest tunes I know.
Very best wishes to you.
Carol
I’ll say a prayer for you, too.
We’ll all be whistling up some strong and positive vibes for you today.
Good luck!
Lolly
Every tune I play today will have a prayer for you attached!

Hi David,
I’m just a lurker too, like Weekenders and Walden, but we lurkers must stick together so good luck and I’ll be playing for you too.
Lurk back and tell us how you’re getting on!
Oh dear!
Prayers and whistle tunes both will be going out!
Remember that ginger in almost any form is reputed to be a good and natural anti-emetic if you’re feeling nauseated. Ginger tea, crystalized ginger, ginger soup, however you can get it down.
It’s supposed to be good for motion sickness, too.
Best of luck!

“Banish Misfortune” it will be. I’ll send it to the four winds as a talisman for you.
Take hold of this thing and kick its a**!
Best,
N
Best of luck to you. . .but I DO recommend hauling a whistle with you… you’d be surprised how much it helps, even if you’re not an accomplished player. A piece of gum (chewed or unchewed!) makes a great mute, so you won’t be heard outside the room. Just cram it down on the blade.
And yeah, I’ll play a tune too…
David,
That’s very upsetting news to hear!
I’ll be playing tunes and praying for you too.
I think you should take your whistle along too. Like Tyg says, If you mute it nobody else will hear it and it might even comfort you to have something to occupy yourself while you are being given your chemo.
I also lurk alot. ![]()
Best wishes to you and yours.

I will be playing and praying for you too! And since I can’t think of a witty or particularly appropriate tune, all that I play will be for you! Best of luck.
Many a whistlers songs , hearts and minds will be on you this day and to come.
… song … the language of the angles
Here’s another one, David, to join the choir of whistlers sending you good (I hope) tunes and good (I know) thoughts.
My best wishes to you!
Claus
Playing the Rights of Man for you as we speak
Take care,
Chris
Sending you tunes, and hopes and prayers. Let us all know how you make out.
