Moon & Halo

Moon & Halo. Glencoe, Scotland

“When the Moon is in his house, there will be rain.” - Native American proverb.

ooooooooh!
Tom

I’ll remember that.

That is a gorgeous picture. It makes me wish I’d been there.

Are you the photographer? Very cool :sunglasses:

Sorry no,but I just loved the picture and we’ve spent a lot of time climbing in Glencoe

I believe that halo is caused by moonlight hitting ice high up in the atmosphere… err, something to that affect. Every once in a while I’ll see them here as well.

Was there rain?

In Glencoe?

It is to laugh!

It’s a 22° halo and it’s caused by refraction of moonlight by ice crystals in a particular orientation. You get similar haloes round the sun too. Here’s a bit of one from my garden.

Will the sun rise in the morning?

Is the Pope Catholic?

Do Bears S#*t in the woods?

There’s always rain in Glencoe

Great omelette recipe Steve. Thanks

You forgot “Do one-legged ducks swim in circles?”

I told you it had to do with ice-crystals, Steve’s the man, he nailed it on the head.

But I thought it was, does the pope sh*t in the woods?

And do one-legged bears cook omelettes in Glencoe?
