Milwaukee Irish Fest - post festival comments

Well, its over. Great fun, though. It was my first time at the Milwaukee fest, but I’ve been to a few other irish festivals and this was certainly the best. Tommy Peoples was wonderful, of course.

We asked Tommy Makem to join my band (Mckunklefunkle) as our lead singer, but he wasn’t willing to. Oh well. Perhaps he’ll see the light eventually.

I’d love to hear what everyone else thought of all the acts and whatnot.

I agree; it was fabulous. Especially Tommy Peoples. And Liz Carroll and John Doyle. The folks there sure know how to do it right. This was my second time in Milwaukee - we went two years ago as well. Loved it both times, but this year it was really something special.

It was really good. Really. The Park East is a good place. They brought doughnuts to the session at 5am on Monday morning. Anyplace that’d do that gets my vote! :party: Flook were really good too as well as Liz Carroll and John Doyle and North Cregg and Tommy Peoples and Deirdre runs out of breath… and she’s a flute player
I enjoyed it. I think I’ll be back. Once just isn’t enough!

Were you with one of the bands, Fluter?

The highlight for me was Jeremy Kittel on Saturday, he plays very well…John Williams was also great, as always. I also got to meet Tommy Peoples and make small talk with him for a bit… =)

I wonder what was up with the Culver’s butterburgers, though, nothing on 'em, just a burger patty in a bun. You’d hope they would tell you before they sold it to you, but no…

No, wasn’t playing with any of the bands. I know Anam Ri pretty well, though - not all of them before the weekend, but I know people who knew people :smiley: , so now I’d say I know them pretty well! Had some wonderful sessions. Likewise with some of the Gaelic Storm people, and I’ve known North Cregg members for a couple of years. Kind of disorienting, though, to have to fit back into a ‘normal’ schedule this week. It was my first time at the festival - I think I’ll definitely have to go back next year!
