Micro Mesh

I use a product that you may not be aware of.

Micro Mesh makes an ultra fine sanding paper that ranges from 1500-12000 grit.
It is available is squares mounted on foam and sold at work working stores.

I use it at the very end of making a reed to smooth out any irregularities in the scraped area and to thin the very tip of the reed.

I always end up with a tiny “speed bump” at the very tip of the reed and this removes it safely.

Where do you get it?

Lee Valley tools sells it in Canada, Amazon sells it in the US.
I have seen it for sale at wood shows.

There is a kit with a couple of each pad.

Works great on plastic, hard wood turnings ,etc.

The local auto parts store here sells wet/dry sandpaper up to 2000 grit. I polish the 2" in the center of the slip with this until it shines.

Thanks guys! Always looking for good tips like these.
