A pedantic aside maybe but the version in the Rowsome book is quite different from the one in O Neill’s, if only for the high A Leo takes the phrase to in bar 6 of the turn. That aside, the version Willie Clancy played on the Delaney recording, the one I learned originally as did Caoimhin, is different again, taking thr run towards the ending up from both the Rowsome and O’Neill versions, giving it a distinct flavour.
Is it just my inexperienced ear, or do I really hear a similarity between the /Mairseil Alasdruim/ of track 14 on Kitty Lie Over, and O’Sullivans March, track 4, on May Morning Dew? Both tunes not written by the same person, are they?
