I recently purchased a fabulous CD (Waifs & Strays) by the abovementioned duo. The sleeve notes had quite a bit to say about them, but was wondering if anyone knew if Hynes has other recordings floating about.
I must say, flutes & fiddles go remarkably well together. 
He might be on the Four Courts Ceili Band recordings on the GTD Heritage label, and perhaps participated in some live Various Artists Memorial Concerts. Otherwise, no solo CD, although suggested to do so.

There’s a tape floating around of Michael and one of his brothers playing duets and solos on flute and whistle, recorded at home probably during the early 80s. There are also tapes of him playing with ‘the Good Mixer group’, Tommy Keane, Henry Benagh and Noel O Grady. He may actually play a bit on one of Tommy’s CDs.
BTW, Peter, I’m starting in on volume 4 of “Wooden Flute Obsession”. Seamus Hynes has been suggested, if willing.

Michael lived in London for a while - Dave Williams gave me a bit of a tape of him from whenever. Seamus is in the Four Courts and used to play with Tommy Peoples every week in Linnanes Kilfenora. Seamus has a very nice old Rudall without a tuning slide on it - he just pulls out the head. I think both brothers feature on the GTD casettes.

I used to go to The Good Mixer ( a pub in Camden, London) on a sat. night, some great music was played there. If anyone has a tape/s I would be very interested in a copy.

Keane, Benagh, Hynes and O Grady played a re-union sort of set at a concert in Memory for Tommy McCarthy I also played at some years ago. That went out on Radio na Gaeltachta but I doubt that is still archived.
The tape of the four of them was recorded at home or in a studio, not in the pub. They all played a few selection on Tommy Keane’s Piper’s Apron Cd.
