being short on cash, 
im looking to maybe pick up some megs in C and D. 
ive got a Origeonal in C, and im feeling kinda Bummed that i dont have a D 
, and i want to have a meg in C. any thoughts on how the meg performs, or on problems with the whistle itself? i love whistling, and as the tutorials say, i think im hitting the obsession stage early… 
any insight would be much appreciated!

DON’T get that Meg C. I have one, and it has some seeeeerious tuning issues. Unless of course they’ve fixed it. I mean yeah, it’s only 3 dollars, so if you’re willing to experiment and spend 3$, go for it. But, I think others have commented on the Meg C or even Sweetone C having bad tuning problems, more so than most whistles out there. It’s not a bad sounding whistle, kinda breathy like, but, just the tuning problems. I’d say the Original Clarke C whistle, the one with the wooden block inside, is better for tuning, just not better for the air it takes to play. I’ve got a Walton Irish C whistle in Brass, I believe it’s around 7$, and although it aint a perfect whistle, I can say that it’s more in tune than my Meg C. If you can handle the air requirements, go for the Clarke Original, which I can’t remember if you said you had now or not. Otherwise, you might be having to start dishing out more 12$ and up for a good C whistle. Besides the Clarke Original C, which is I think around 12$.
Well, if you mean those ear-piercing and very tiny G whistles, not a whole lot other then annoying the hell out of your neighbors and screwing up your hearing… But, you can play G tunes on the G whistle with a different fingering vs, playing G tunes on the D whistle. For example: Drops of Brandy on the D whistle (and when I say Drops of Brandy, I mean the way the Chieftains played it on Water From The Well, first part) starts on the note of D. And on the D whistle, it’s the second D, or, I guess, middle D. Well, you can take that same tune, same key (G) and play it on a G whistle starting out with this fingering: xxo ooo So, that’s one I guess, ‘advantage.’ It all depends on whats comfortable for you. Sometimes it depends on the tune you’re playing, and how the tune is played. But, I think a low G whistle is more pleasant sounding…
And I’m sure there’s other advantages as well, but, I have to jet!
I don’t have a Meg, though I have played one. I was quite suprised how well it played and sounded. Very impressive for a $3 whistle!
I don’t think I’ve heard much good about the Meg in C. Mostly tuning problems as posted above.
However, I’ve heard a lot of good comments about the Meg in D. In fact, just about an hour ago I ordered two for my daughters. I already have a Sweetone in D. The tone is OK, but a bit breathy for my taste, and feels a little toy-like. However, it’s an easy whistle to play, so it’s a good one to have. The Meg is the same design.
If you’re looking for a C, I’ve also heard that the Walton C is a good, in-tune C whistle. I just ordered one of them too!

Yes, I have a Meg D in black, and it’s one of my best whistles really. (seen there in my avatar I’m playing, probably can’t make it out due to the size) Maybe not very loud in volume, and could be a little more responsive, but for 3 dollars? It’s an exceptional whistle.
My Meg D is a great little whistle. I don’t play mine much anymore, but when I pick it up occasionally, I am always pleasantly surprised.
The Oak C is a fairly decent whistle for the price (about 12 bucks). Mine gets a little breathy in the upper octave, but not bad.
Ok, No on the C, but go for the D. Got it. Ive got the Clarke origenal in C, but ive tried the D, and i like it. i think i will go for it. 
There’s lots of other brands of whistles you could get in the key of C, mid range, to cheapy brands/prices. Like, generation, (which haven’t had much good comments for the C’s) Oak, Waltons Irish C (which isn’t a half bad whistle) and the list goes on. But, if you can ever get to dishing out about 40$ get a Syn whistle in C. It’s a whistle that is made with one head, but you can buy whistle bodies from Keys E to A that all fit that one whistle head. I just wanted the C, so I just bought that only. I’m not sure if this whistle is good for a beginner or not, but, it’s a good whistle for C. However, it’s rather clear in tone, and not so much breathy like the Clarke Original C. I think you would be happy with a Walton’s Irish C whistle in Brass. Or nickel if you want to try that, but I have the brass, and it’s not a half bad whistle. Nothing exciting or amazing, but definitely playable.
But, you can always experiment on your own and see what you like.
I love the meg for what it is cheap! they are great as starter gifts for kids
but if I were looking for something in that genre I would get a freeman teaked sweetone man what a difference much sturdier and much easier to play
