There’s a used MD rosewood flute, unlined, keyless, no slide, two pieces,
for sale at a local music store. They want 600 bucks.
I’m trying to find out how much one of these would
cost new. I’ve done some searching, but I wonder if
somebody knows. It plays nicely for what it is, but
the price seems steep–curious.
I looked into this recently, and it seems his lowest priced flute is going for 525 euros, which is about $662 now, so you’d save a few bucks.
His base priced flute, like this one, also can be had in blackwood for the same price, if that’s a consideration.
PS I think you’re far better off getting on JonC’s waiting list, which is quite a bit shorter, and much more reasonable for us in the USA. He seems to be satisfying everyone I’ve talked to with his flutes, including me. Great guy, too!

I must be doing this wrong, it comes out to 815 dollars.
I’m not really wanting the flute, being buried alive in them
at the moment (oh death, where is thy sting?). Curious
about the music store here in St. Louis and the Doyle flutes.
I only played it for a few seconds. It seemed
likeable and maybe I would have thought
better of it with more time.
This one was pretty well used and beat up.
I’d pay 400 for it, but this may be misjudging–
need to play it more.
