Flute Price

Hi,

May I ask all Olwell flute owners/expectants what the price is for a D keyless flute?

Thanks

D

I think it was $1050 or $1100 without a case.

From the price list Patrick sent me a year and a half ago:

Blackwood with nickel tuning slide and rings: $1095

Blackwood with sterling tuning slide and rings: $1195

This is not to say that Patrick’s prices haven’t changed - this price list is actually dated 1999 - so you should contact him directly.

I can tell you that Cocus flutes cost more, but I wouldn’t recommend buying one unless you are quite certain you’re not allergic to Cocus. After 2 months of playing mine, I’ve developed an allergery that is so bad my lips blister and constantly feel like they are burning. My tongue is also starting to be affected as well - feels like I scalded my tongue for the rest of the day after I’ve played. Anyway, there’s my warning about Cocus. Sure is beautiful and wonderful soundning though…

P.S. No offers to buy my Olwell please, it’s not up for sale at this point.

Thanks to g and Loren.
I think i’ll give the cocus wood a miss if i order one. I’m sorry to hear that your flute upsets you in this way Loren. what about having a metal lip plate fitted? would this be possible?
just a thought.

Loren,

Yeah, I saw your post on woodenflute-l about your problems with the cocus flute. Too bad, but hopefully something can be done about the flute to shield your face from direct contact with the wood…

I just wanted to confirm that on Saturday I say Pat at the Md RenFest. I asked about a Blackwood with sterling tuning slide and rings that I got to try. Pat quoted a price of 1200. So I suspect prices haven’t changed much, unless it was a special price for the RenFest.
