Just think, 99.999999999999999% of the world would never guess what its looking at! :boggle: Well, 99.9999% anyway.

Up for a game of “Where’s Waldo?” Search for Brian and Mikie in the group shot!

But seriously, great pics of what looks like it was a great event; thanks for sharing.

I’m sure I spotted AlanB in a couple pics.

So its just not me???

Someone explain the grouping of tunning pins/regulator/drones??

Looks like barrel style drones and regs. Anybody care to divulge more info? Chris?

Beware the Moderator’s eye, for it is sharp…

Well Spotted Joseph; this is a Chris Bayley barrel set with tenor and baritone regulators, in blackwood, brass and artificial ivory. Four drones, including two tenor drones in d and a, which can be switched off individually.

I took them over to give to their new owner, who is very pleased with them. Mikie Smith was very taken with them as well, and couldn’t believe the cost!

… which was, if I may inquire?

If Chris’ price list on his web site is up-to-date (which I kind of doubt), they are very reasonable indeed at GBP1275, which at current exchange is ~US$2550, which hardly seems possible. I’d expect to pay tripple that.

I’m sure Chris could make an exception and raisse the price in your case… that is, if you ask nicely.

Must be the invisible man I couldnae see him

Unfortunately Alan caught a dose of the flu the day before the Tionol and could not make it.

Allan Moller agreed to stand in at very short notice but his car broke down on the way to Manchester.

The reed makers formed a self help group and whittled out some reeds.

That’s no paintbrush. It’s a device traditionally used in Manchester to punish errant pipers… She’s a busy woman.

… ooops, too late.

Hi Joseph,

The total cost of the unit was £1350. Remarkably cheap for such a complex piece of work. Chris has increased his prices slightly, but I think it is a real bargain. Adding a bag bellows and chanter would still not break the £2000 barrier

It is a cool looking thing for certain. I hope to give it or something like it a spin someday.

Do you have any more pictures of the MacGregor Barrel?

I have been in contact with Chris in regards to a set of these.

That barrel is absolutely beautiful work.

These are the only other images I have.

McGregor seems like a very innovative pipemaker for his time. Chris is sending me some info to add to the Wiki regarding him.
