I am hoping to mount a weekend flute festival here next year .
Those keen to join in are Matt Molloy , supported by John Carty :
Jean-Michel Veillon ;Brian Finnegan of Fluke ( I hope I’ve spelt that right ! ) ,and Lisa Beznosiuk , (Professor of early flute ,and virtuoso ) for a baroque contrast , and perhaps Sean Cannon of the Dubliners for a leavening of Irish Ballads .
Any ( polite ) suggestions gratefully received.
Any registrations of interest will be useful .
We expect that Jean-Michel and Brian will give masterclasses ,and hold workshops .
The theatre complex adjoins the park ,so fringe events could be possible too .
Sounds good old boy. ![]()
I am particularly . interested in the question of whether "Irish flute " people are sufficiently interested in classical / baroque to include that alternative in the weekend .
Where is Malvern?.
Malvern is at the centre of the known universe .( I can’t afford the petrol to go far ).
In Worcestershire ,on the side of the Malvern Hills . ( England ,for those unfortunates lacking atlases ).Only £200 from Canada .Perhaps we could offer a discount to those coming over 1500 miles , or some free sandwiches ,
Sounds lovely, Andrew! I was at the Border Gaitherin last weekend, a more general event - but Brian Finnegan did a day of workshops which were so inspiring! Their website was great for people who had never been before - had accomodation information as well as info about the workshops.
Perhaps, since there are so few flute workshops in the UK, you could avoid clashing with Border Gatherin, Sabhol Mor Ostaig, Burwell and Strathspey in May?
Count me in - and given the driving distance, perhaps include in the free sandwiches?

You will be able to share the driving from Scotland with Graham Farr in Livingston who is ready to do the event website .Look forward to seeing you .I might even get you a pint if I am not quite broke from paying all these illustrious players, and buying Jean-Michel red wine .
Another offer has come in this morning on your very own forum from a very fine French artiste on the flute and Uillean pipes !.
I am wondering if a creche could be too difficult legally .
Accomodation in the area will be located and advertised , perhaps with block bookings to encourage sessions ! Oh! the possibilities !
I think you should have a session/party in your house, that gives roughly
a year to clean, which with the help of the army AND the red cross should
be possible…
Nicolas
Personally, No.
Personally , good .

I suppose nice honest frenchmen are the ones that find water using sticks?? As
for setting foot in your premises, I value my health far too much to risk such a folliy
Dear Nicholas .
I am not sure I get your reference to ignorance of dowsing in the French population . I suspect they know a thing or two about it .
As for setting foot here , I am confident that your instincts for self preservation will keep your kind away ( with your wish no doubt to maintain the present configuration of your big French nose ).Along , I hope with door to door salesmen , burglars , whores , those people who pay for flutes in Euros , politicians , players of Digeridoos in public places ,and all other such undesirables and troublemakers . All the best .
Dang it! I thought at first you might mean Malvern, Pennsylvania, which is about a 30-minute drive for me. Malvern, England might be a bit harder drive, and I’m not even sure with my all-wheel-drive Subaru I could manage that whole ocean section. After all, there’s off-road and then there’s off-road!

Steven
Malvern Pensylvania sounds good .Perhaps we should send the locals a recording of our event if it comes to fruition .
Yes, please do!
Oh, come, Steven, let’s give it a go; maybe Subaru will sponsor our efforts. If not? Mine’s got 105K on it, so I don’t mind if it sinks. It should even be back from the body shop by then.
An’ lahk Ah said: Sorry Andrew, but Ah ain’t goin’ near them infernal Bay-roke flutes. Last thang Ah need’s anuthuh unfortun-ate addiction, y’all.
If it ain’t Baroque, don’t fix it.
Cheers,
Aaron
